Tropical Island Attractions

The resort is divided into several massive zones, ensuring there is something for both thrill-seekers and those looking for relaxation:

  • The Tropical Sea: A massive pool the size of three Olympic swimming pools, lined with a sandy beach and palm trees. It is kept at a pleasant 28°C.
  • The Lagoon: Features a grotto, a waterfall, whirlpools, and two water slides. The temperature here is a warmer 32°C.
  • The Indoor Rainforest: Home to over 50,000 plants and 600 different species, including flamingos, turtles, and exotic fish. It is the world’s largest indoor rainforest.
  • Water Slide Tower: Standing 27 meters high, it features four different slides, including a high-speed slide that reaches up to 70 km/h.
  • Amazonia: The year-round outdoor area. Its highlight is the Whitewater River, a 250-meter long jet-stream channel that guests can float down.
  • Tropino Kids Club: A huge climbing area, bumper boats, and XXL Legos for younger children.
  • Sauna & Spa Complex: A 10,000 m² wellness area with various themed saunas (Stone Sauna, Salt World, etc.) and steam baths inspired by UNESCO World Heritage sites.

History of the amusement park

The massive dome, known as the Aerium, was originally built as an airship yard between 1938 and 1945. After May 1945 the Soviet army occupied the airfield and made here a military base. With the reunification of Germany in 1989/1990 the Dome with Airfield was back to Brandenburg Government. The object was bought in 1992 by CargoLifter AG and they rebuild the dome between 1998 and 2000. It was intended to house giant airships meant for heavy-duty transport. However, the company went bankrupt in 2002.
The Malaysian Tanjong Group bought the hangar and transformed it into a tropical park, which officially opened its doors on December 19, 2004. Today, it is owned by the Spanish group Parques Reunidos.
